Dr. Carmela Bernardo is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Systems and Control Engineering at the University of Sannio, Italy. She received her Ph.D. in 2022 from the same university, with a visiting period at Linköping University, Sweden. Her research focuses on the analysis and modeling of opinion dynamics and their applications to social networks, climate change negotiations, fake news propagation, and multi-energy systems. Dr. Bernardo has authored over a dozen papers in leading journals such as Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and Science Advances, and has contributed to several books and book chapters. She serves as an associate editor, guest editor, and reviewer for numerous international journals and conferences, and lectures graduate courses on machine learning for dynamics and control. She has received several awards, including the Excellent Reviewer Award from IEEE TNSE, and is dedicated to understanding complex social phenomena through the lens of network science and social dynamics.
